His request is reasonable as a safeguard against rumor and false accusations. But the reasons he gives are lame. If it’s your vow then why aren’t you bringing your wife? A man who can’t resist his urges. He is the problem, not the journalist. Sad. Plenty of situations where another person as a chaperone is a good idea.
