This proposal worked when considering small regions of spacetime. Normal relativity described the “geometry” of spacetime as being a trampoline-like surface; planets are heavy bowling balls that distort the floor, creating curves. Primarily, Einstein’s novel idea of basic relativity didn’t maintain up when used to explain the universe as an entire.
