The remains of the couple were unearthed in 1972 at the Teppe Hasanlu archaeological excavation site, Solduz valley, western Azerbaijan province, Iran. This area was previously believed to have burned down after the military attack. Participants from both sides were killed in the sudden and rapid fire spread across the city.
Two skeletons were found in a plaster cereal container, believed to be the bodies of a couple who entered here to hide from the enemy but suffocated. The wound on the head of a male skeleton is due to excavation, not pre-death injury.
