Super Bowl LVII: Chiefs vs. Eagles 2023
The first act of Super Bowl 57 was a plane display in Glendale, Arizona, marking 50 years since the first women joined the United States Air Force. To begin the event, female pilots flew several fighter jets.
It took a half-century for the Kansas City Chiefs to win the Super Bowl for the second time (2020) after their first victory in 1970. However, only three years later, on February 12, 2023, they have crowned the best team in Super Bowl 57.
The FIFA World Cup held every four years and draws soccer enthusiasts from around the world, just ended in December 2022. In the United States, this year’s Super Bowl LVII featured the evenly matched teams of the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles, bringing a terrific Super Bowl game to over 100 million Americans.
Every February in the United States, there occurs a Sunday evening when the streets are tranquil for 4-5 hours. People congregate in restaurants and bars with large TV screens ranging in size from 88 to 100 inches (2.23 to 2.54 meters) to watch football players compete in the Super Bowl, the final game of the football season, which runs from September of the previous year to mid-February of the following year.
The State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, has a capacity of 63,400 people but has been increased to accommodate fans of both teams playing for the Super Bowl LVII championship. The average ticket price for a major sporting event in America in 2023 is $6,500, according to SeatGeek. The most expensive seat in the house is $30,000, while the cheapest ticket is “just” $4,200.
Donna Kelce, the guest of honor for both the Chiefs and Eagles teams, was one of the most special viewers of the Super Bowl game on February 12, 2023. She has two sons who are “half-brothers” yet have to “fight” each other.
Her older son, 35-year-old Jason Kelce, is the center for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League, and her younger son, 33-year-old Travis Kelce, is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League. Both boys, professional football players, had a red half jersey with Travis’ Chiefs team number 87 and a green half jersey with Jason’s Eagles team number 62 created for their mother. The two brothers have received a championship ring in their sports careers.
Like other mothers across the world, Donna is especially sympathetic to her son, who was defeated when a confetti forest of colors engulfed the Chiefs’ championship squad and Travis Kelce. She moved her gaze to Jason, hugging and comforting him. Jason’s face glowed with joy in his mother’s embrace despite his loss. He did not rush to the players’ locker room as his teammates had done. He lingered on the field to congratulate his brother on the “other side of the battlefield,” wearing his second Super Bowl victory ring.
The 57th Super Bowl was the first in which both starting quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs and Jalen Hurts of the Eagles, were of African-American origin.
The game was divided into four quarters (Q), with the Eagles leading at the end of the second and third. This did not, however, put the Chiefs at a disadvantage. Both sides played evenly, keeping pace with each other. They were deadlocked at the end of the first quarter, with the Eagles leading at the end of the second and third quarters.
The Chiefs recovered from behind to score 17 points in the fourth quarter and establish an 8-point lead, putting the championship trophy within grasp. On the other hand, QB Jalen Hurts launched a 45-yard throw to teammate Devonta Smith, who received the ball and sprinted past the Chiefs’ defenders for a touchdown, tying the game at 35-35.
With barely 8 seconds left in the game, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes tossed the ball to Harrison Butker, who made a field goal and won the win for the Chiefs, leaving the Philadelphia Eagles stunned and disappointed.
Patrick Mahomes played incredibly well and led his team to win despite not being entirely recovered from a leg injury suffered in late January. He was named the game’s MVP (most valuable player), his second honor in a Super Bowl.
The audience loved the excellently crafted 30-second advertising during the Super Bowl, which cost up to 7 million dollars, on a reasonably warm afternoon in the Northeastern United States.
The Kansas City Chiefs rejoiced in a confetti storm. At the same time, the Philadelphia Eagles mourned the loss of the championship, which was within their grasp until the last 8 seconds of the game.

Our forefathers always said, “Thirty is not yet the New Year,” not only in sports but also in life. A hiccup near the end does not lessen the Philadelphia Eagles’ importance in the eyes of their fans.
