You rock!!! I have been watching your videos and traveling while staying at home due to the pandemic. My first book was back in 1998!!! Keep shining like the star you are!! And like you said, one day hopefully soon, we will keep on traveling! When in Rome … okay, Paris … my husband struggled with French … he took German in High School, and I took Spanish, but my sister took French and I helped her with her homework so I had a bit of an “ear.” We stopped by a Coffee Shop in Paris before heading via train to Chartes, and my husband went in to order. After a few seconds, the attendant came out laughing and asked me, in perfect English, if my husband really wanted to order 22-shots of espresso. I chuckled and replied in French, “No, sir, two double please.” He laughed again and said he ordered in a combination of German-English-French-Spanish. Best thing he heard all day … we all had a good laugh. Europeans are SO VERY understanding. Just take a chance and try to speak THEIR language … trust me, it will be okay! People who understand history, appreciate diversity know what Rick Steve’s is talking about. I appreciate his opinions, because he’s so well traveled. He’s a proven bridge builder and a peacemaker. Leaders of a lot of nations could use his perspective. Rick Steve’s is precisely the kind of person who should speak out!
