The Ultimate Guide to Terrifying Horror Movies


With Halloween right around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to write this blog on some of my favorite horror movies that are sure to help you get in the mood for the spookiest time of the year. I have compiled a list of five different movies that are sure to have you on the edge of your seat and can’t wait to watch them again and again.


1. The Shining


The Shining is a horror movie by Stanley Kubrick that was released in 1980. The movie is about a family that moves into a hotel and has one of the most terrifying experiences of their life. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. The movie is considered to be one of the best horror movies of all time and has a lot of scary scenes and moments.


2. The Exorcist


The Exorcist is one of the most famous horror movies of all time. It is a film that has been so influential that it is often considered the “scariest movie ever made.” The Exorcist is a scary movie that has terrified audiences for decades. It is so scary that it has even been banned by the Catholic Church. The film was based on a true story of a young girl, Regan MacNeil, who was possessed by a demon. The film is about how two priests, Father Damien Karras and Father Merrin, try to help the girl. The movie has a lot of jump scares and is a must-watch for people who love horror films.


3. Psycho


Psycho is a horror movie about a woman (played by Janet Leigh) who has been institutionalized for 10 years. She is about to be released when she meets a young man (played by Anthony Perkins), who claims to be her half-brother. The film is famous for its shower scene and for its use of sound effects and jump scares.


4. Scream


Scream is a great horror movie to watch on Halloween and to get you in the spooky spirit. It is a movie from the 1990’s that is based on the popular book, “Scream” by Kevin Williamson. The film stars David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and Matthew Lillard. It is one of the best horror films to watch around Halloween.
